After a 15-year hiatus, largemouth bass virus has re-emerged in a new northern Lower Peninsula water. This virus has been confirmed as a factor in a fish kill in Cedar Lake in Alcona and Iosco counties, Michigan, with additional lakes in the area being examined.



October 15, 2018 - Fish virus confirmed in lake in northeastern Lower Peninsula

A largemouth bass virus that affected fish in the early 2000s in southern Michigan lakes has been confirmed in a lake in Michigan's northeastern Lower Peninsula. The state Department of Natural Resources announced Monday the virus was a factor in a fish kill in Cedar Lake in Alcona and Iosco counties.



September 27, 2018 - Human remains found at scene of Kalitta Air plane crash in Iosco County

The remains have not been positively identified, but authorities believe they are the pilot of a Kalitta Air charter plane that crashed on approach to Oscoda Wurtsmith Airport early Tuesday. A 33-year-old pilot from Orlando, Florida, was alone aboard the 10-passenger King Air turboprop airplane.



September 25, 2018 - Charter plane crash in Iosco County, person on board identified

Michigan State Police Sgt. Pete McNamara told TV5 that calls started rolling into central dispatch at 8:30 a.m. for a missing plane.
